Why did you decide to work for Green Township?
In the fall of 2001, I knew that the Trustees were seeking a new Township Administrator, so I researched the community and spent several days driving up and down each street in Green Township. At that time Green Township had 55,660 residents and approximately 21,000 total households. At least 25% of the households had individuals who were 65 years of age or older. This meant there would be many people downsizing their homes or seeking condominiums and/or retirement complexes. 34% of the households also had children under 18 years of age. Green Township was very diverse in age and size.
The housing stock was in very good shape, as were the Township roads and major thoroughfares. All of these factors plus the variety of educational opportunities with public and private schools and the positive business climate attracted me to want to work in Green Township. I felt that Green Township was a community "on the move" and this was a good fit for me.
Current Green Township areas of interest:
The Trustees and Fiscal Officer set the direction for administrative staff in Green Township. One of their key areas is to provide quality services for the most efficient dollar amount. My goal is to work with each Department Head to maintain high quality employees that provide quality services to residents. The Township is currently focusing on three areas of interest:
1. I will continue to work with the Trustees to maintain high quality Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services throughout the Township. When possible we will upgrade equipment and technology in order to meet today's challenges.
2. Improving traffic flow and reducing vehicular accidents. Trustee Upton has been heading a committee of staff, Hamilton County Engineer's office personnel and ODOT staff to focus on improving traffic flow at twelve different intersections in Green Township. Improving these areas is a major multi-million dollar expense and takes many years.
3. Trustee Winkler presented the results of the Green Township Parks and Open Space Master Plan in November of 2007. I will be working with Trustee Winkler and other citizens in order to implement the recommendations of that Parks and Open Space Master Plan. In particular we hope to develop a park on Diehl Road at the old Schott estate and to upgrade Kuliga Park on Bridgetown Road.
FUTURE HOPES AND GOALS FOR THE TOWNSHIP:
I plan to work with the Trustees to maintain the housing values in Green Township and to provide the best quality services available for the most reasonable costs. I hope to work with the Trustees to improve parks and maintain green space. Wherever possible, I will also work with the Trustees to enable positive economic development projects that have a long term benefit for the residents of Green Township.

HOBBIES AND OTHER INTERESTS:
In my younger days, I loved to play basketball in a competitive recreational league for 10 years until I turned 50 and my opponents seemed to get faster and stronger. Now I like to run with my son in 5K races, even though I always lose. I have two dogs; a yellow lab and a mixed beagle/chow that always want to go for walks around the park. I really enjoy participating in community service projects with my children or assisting my daughter, Ellie, with the many improvements at her horse farm near Oxford, Ohio. My wife and I enjoy vacationing at Elk Lake, near Traverse City, Michigan.
