North Bend Road Bridge Project Update

Barrier wall removal requires the following lane and ramp closures this week:
Beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, the left lane of eastbound I-74 under the North Bend Road bridge will be closed to remove barrier wall, with the left lane of westbound I-74 under the bridge closing at approximately 9 p.m. to remove barrier wall.  All lanes will reopen to traffic by 6 a.m. the following day.
Beginning at 11 p.m. Thursday, the ramp from northbound North Bend Road to westbound I-74 will be closed to remove barrier wall.  Once open, the ramp from southbound North Bend Road to eastbound I-74 will be closed to remove barrier wall.  The ramp will be reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. the following day.

The traveling public should expect delays in the area.  A local northbound alternate route has been posted by the Hamilton County Engineer’s Office from North Bend Road to Boomer Road to Race Road to West Fork Road to North Bend Road.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is replacing the North Bend Road bridge over I-74 as part of an I-74 Rehabilitation Project.  The work is being performed by Sunesis Construction Company, and is anticipated to last until the fall of 2017.

Highway advisory radio (HAR) 1700 AM is being used to provide notice of upcoming traffic pattern changes, interstate travel times, incident notification and a recommendation that local deliveries take place in off peak hours.  A citizens band announcement will also be broadcast to warn users to avoid the North Bend Road/I-74 interchange.  Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the work zone and the lane and ramp closures and the traffic switch.  To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.

Problems or questions should be directed to the Ohio Dept of Transportation, District 8 Communications Manager Brian Cunningham at 513-933-6517 or Liz Lyons, Public Information Specialist at 513-933-6534 or email at
